Obituary for John "Jack" Resch

John "Jack" Resch
John (Jack) Resch, 74, of Motley passed away August 4, 2018 at Lakewood Health System Care Center, Staples.

Services will be held Monday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at the Motley Free Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Motley Public Cemetery following the service.

John was born December 14, 1943 in Alexandria to Clarence and Lois (Williams) Resch. They lived on farms in the Osakis and Eagle Bend areas until John was 3-years-old, when the family moved to Philbrook where he grew up. He attended Philbrook country school for seven years. He graduated from Staples High School in 1962. After graduation he worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis as a machinist. He was layed off in the spring of 1964 due to a recession. The following fall he went to work for Paper Camelson iron works; then worked for New Merrick Machining for four years. While there he enrolled in night courses in tool and dye at the Dunwoody Institute. He worked at James A. Smith Company for six months before returning to Staples where he worked for 3M for seven years. He also farmed raising beef cattle, sheep and crops. He was married in 1964. He left the machinist trade in 1976 and became a carpenter in the Motley and surrounding area for many years. He worked for Basement Water Control of St. Cloud from 1992 to 1999, then returned to his carpentry business until retirement. He served 10-1/2 years on the Villard town board. He enjoyed trapping and the yearly deer hunt.

John is survived by one daughter, Renee (Paul) Ridge of Buffalo; one son, Randy of Motley; two brothers, Gary (Arlene) of St Cloud and Richard (Linda) of Barnum; three sisters, Cheryl (John) Anderson of Cambridge; Linda (Lowell) Blom of Monticello and Bonita (John) Tidgwell of North Branch; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
